Wakeda: Two Months Away

Yup, that's right.  Two months from now will be the start of our second Wakeda event, so its time to start thinking and planning for another fun time together.  We've got things in the works and are starting to pick up the pace, and hopefully the weather will be a little kinder to us this year.  Though, given the weekend before the event last year was cold and wet, I still preferred the weather we did have, but it was an extreme opposite, to be sure.  Here are some preliminary updates and  imformation for you, and as always, we welcome your feedback.

  • Don't forget that we're hoping you'll carve a covered wagon that somehow incorporates your trail name/sig stamp.  I'll let you decide how you want to list it this year, from these three choices:

    • PT - what we did last year, and since it incorporates your sig/t.n., does make it more personal.
    • Event Box - leave this out on your campsite, or at event central.
    • WOM - if you decide to make it a WOM box, please actually hide it and have a clue that takes people someplace to find it.
    • Whichever method you choose, don't forget that at some point you will need to stamp it on the event poster like we did last year.  Probably best to do this before you plant it or set it out.
  •  If you haven't made your reservations, please do so!  If you have, and I haven't added you to the list, please let me know.  You can find your way to Wakeda through the Wakeda page.
  • For the suppers on Friday and Saturday nights, we are planning a mexican theme and a country dinner theme.
    • Mexican theme - we'll have the fixuns for you to make tacos, burritos, salads, quesadillas, etc.  We'll also make sure that there is something that everyone can eat - we know some of you have food allergies.
    • Country theme - BBQ beef, chicken and pork, corn, biscuits, cornbread, salads, cole slaw, etc.
    • I'll be posting soon what we're planning on picking up, and what we'll need some help with, and we can use the potluck list on the event page for planning.
  • We will be having door prizes this year.  It was discussed among the admins about having a raffle to help offset costs, but instead we've decided to hold a drawing for door prizes, and we'll have a donation can set out.  You are under NO obligation to make a donation!!!  But after the ambush last year...  ;)
  • Also, I'm hoping to have three large door prizes.  However, if someone else would like to donate a door prize item/gift bag, please contact me via AQ mail.  Max value of contribution - $20.
  • If you are carving a stamp for the event, don't forget that we need them sent by the end of the month.  So far, we have gotten an awesome bunch of stamps, and I'm sure more are in the works.
  • There will be the pancake breakfast at the Veg-Out food trailer on Sunday like they did last year.  We've also spoken with the family that runs that, and they will also be open for lunch on Saturday.  Here is a copy of their menu from last year.

  • No, I do not plan on wearing a pink thong at the event.  ;)
I'll have more info as things come together, but also don't forget about the discussion board, and if you have any questions, comments or ideas, feel free to bring them up there or send me an AQ mail.  Thanks everyone!  ;)

That doesn't mean you won't be forced into wearing one. Or perhaps your tent will wear one. Perhaps your letterboxing bag. . . maybe your car. . . what ELSE could wear a pink thong, Thong Boy?? The Shoes have eyes everywhere, you know. . .
