Toys For Tots & Boxes For Boxers

We grabbed our coffee this morning, loaded up the car, and headed up to Saco, ME, to attend the 2012 Letterboxer's Christmas event.  We had our boxing stuff, some food, our camera, and several games for the Toys For Tots gift pile - ready to go!  Traffic was fine, the sun was out and it wasn't too cold - turned out to be a really nice day!

Steampunk Stuff & Strawberry Fluff, Part B

Let's see, where were we - oh, yes - I left you with this image of a mysterious device...

Steampunk Stuff & Strawberry Fluff, Part 1

We had a very interesting weekend, to say the least.  It started Friday night as we prepared the house for a special guest - Teeker was coming up from Connecticut to stay with us for the Steampunk event in Maine!  Mama Irish Chicklet was going to be coming up with Teeks, but unfortunately, had to cancel last minute - we missed having you!  However, Teeks arrive Saturday morning, before I was up, of course.  Oh, well - her problem - she had to suffer through me coming upstairs before coffee and morning prep.  But, once that was completed, the day got brighter, and then Honig603 arrived at the house, to ride with us up to Parsonfield.  Off we went!

Return from the Missing

Yes, i know - i haven't been pulling my weight around here. i've been lolling about, letting Bubs do all the posting, have all the fun. *sigh* No excuse, really, just this little 1000 mile move in the middle there. . .

Anyway, i'm back now and have a new resolve to post something so that everyone knows that there really is a tigger too. ;-)

Planning For Weekend At Wakeda

As some of you may already know, Betty Boop3 and I are planning our first official event, and we're really excited about it!  Gollygee has jumped on board as well, and is going to help with the event, which is even better, since she's a veteran event guru!  Its at a campground in Hampton Falls, NH, which is near the seacoast, but nestled away just enough to be peaceful and quiet, while still being near enough to just about everything!

Ode To An Ex Neighbor

*SIGH*  I already miss having my hiking compadre in the state right next to me, so I figured I'd sift through my pics and put together a small tribute to a great friend, a kindred spirit, an inspiration on the trails, and someone I look up to - all of which came out of our love for boxing and our sharing the same sense of humor.  And in keeping with that sense of humor, don't expect the rest of this post to be so kind!  ;)  Safe journey Sis!!!

Brunswick Stew: Our MMCBBE12 Adventure - The Cooking...

We last left off with the possibility of something tragic about to happen - there was a wild tigs in the woods, and BB3 was heading straight for her!  Did she get mauled or mangled?!  Did she get out of the way in time?!  Were the tigshooicus mauliculi hiding nearby as well?!  Well, read on to find out!

Brunswick Stew: Our MMCBBE12 Adventure - The Prep

This was our (mine and BB3's) first year romping around the Thomas Point Beach campground and the surrounding area, and we had a blast at this big Maine event.  We camped on the same campsite as our ol' pal tiggermama, and were also joined by Boujiemama, KatieKitty and Celtic Hound.  What, might you ask, happens when tigs and I get together for boxing mayhem?  Well, I'll tell you allll about it!

Special Thanks To Ship Of Fools

I was originally going to write a long post about our adventures at SOF and post a bunch of pics, but almost all of the pics I would have posted would have been borrowed, and everyone has already done such a great job of  talking about it and sharing pics, that there's not much I can add.  And then there's the amazing slideshow - definately worth the time!

A Carving Fool. . .

So, now that i have some time (since i'm sitting here in an airport for the next 90 minutes), and people have already started finding the actual stamp, i thought i would post about how i actually carve. THIS IS A SPOILER POST, IT CONTAINS ACTUAL IMAGES OF A STAMP IN THE WILD. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE IT BEFORE YOU FIND IT, DON'T LOOK!!!

Ok, everybody else still with us? Onward and forward. . .

Its Gotten Much Worse - Prepare Yourselves!!!

As most of you know, officials are working hard to keep you safe while you are out on the trails.  We all know about bears, spiders, snakes, mountain lions, rabid rainbow pygmies, and what to do if we come across them.  And you know that a few months ago, a new threat was discovered that was far, far worse than any other dangerous creature in the woods.  If you haven't been informed of this danger, refer back the "Public Safety Announcement" in this blog.  However, things have changed, and the hazards of this menace have evolved.   These monsters have adapted to their surroundings and live to feed their bloodthirsty hunger for unsuspecting letterboxers.  Please, read on so that you'll have the knowledge to protect yourselves while hunting for plastic and rubber.

...And Now The Big One

The big one being the Riverbound Nature Sanctuary Project, an event hosted by Teeker and held at the  Riverbound Farm in Cheshire, Connecticut, which we attended on May 5th.  I absolutely loved this event, because not only did we get to find boxes, yak with boxers and eat some good grub, but we all gave back to a place that houses many boxes.  It also has some great nature walks, a scavenger hunt, and all sorts of info and displays about wildlife and birds.  I'll start with many of the cool display pics, then I'll tell you about our day.

A Small One....

Since my ol' buddy ol' pal Tiggasaurus Rex kindly and graciously asked to see some photos (check the last post while I stop choking), I figured I would do so by telling you about a couple of our boxing adventures.  One was a small trip that took us into Barrington, NH, which isn't too far from us, and the other was a big trip, which took us to Cheshire, CT, to a great event that bossy ol' tigs missed out on, so there!  Pbbbbtttt!!!

(Long pause inserted here, where I had to run for a while.)

One Amazed And Special Thank You

Before I got back to posting about the few recent boxing activities we've had, I wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you that have subscribed to our babblings, foolings around and our accounts of what we do and see while we are out on the trails.  Both tigs and I have enjoyed this little joint adventure, and while it was never meant to be something of epic proportions or something that would eat up too much of our boxing time, we have had some fun with it and have enjoyed sharing things with you in a little bit of a more personal way.

Lessons Learned

Ah yes! the tigs has been out and boinging again! This is a good thing, because two weekends in a row of sitting still and doing nothing makes for one cranky tigger. Mr Umbrella knows this, and decided to do something about it (the begging and pleading might have had some influence as well LOL).

Happy Mother's Day!

It's been a great day here at the tigger bungalow - there's been bacon munching followed by a scavenger hunt for some wonderful new Tsukineko inks from Mr. Umbrella. That Mr. U - he's the creative one! i'm never going to just be handed a present again!. Nope, there are always clues involved - which is frankly giving me ideas. i think i may stop writing my own clues. i think HE may be the one in charge of giving you all fits in the middle of the night. . .

Collagatron 1000

I thought it might be a good idea to post pictures from some of our other adventures that we haven't written about, and rather than make you read and read this time, just let you take a photo journey through some of the things we've seen.  So, Enjoy!!!

Chillin' With The Tigs...NOT!!

Last weekend we went up to Vermont to box with the tigster, help install a stair railing and posts, and attend the mini-meet that Pixie and the Sprites were holding.  "Chillin'" was not a way to describe the weekend, though we did have some relaxing chats in the evening, but other than that, we had alot to cram in to the weekend!

And now for something completely different

because we all need a little comic relief. Frankly, yesterday sucked the big wazoo, so now a little fun.

You may all recall that Piper on The Trail asked us all, a little while back, for a beauty tip. This struck me as quite funny, as i am about as beauty-conscious as Esmerelda. My one regular makeup product is Cherry chapstick. So, my biggy tip was: "Don't put a blue Marvy Marker in yer teeth." i thought this worked.

Springing In The Rain and A Hometown Return

Ok, so I left off with our adventures at Hubbard Park in Meriden, CT on Saturday, March 24th.  The next day, BB3 and I got up, a little later than the day before, and while I didn't get a great night's sleep, I did get more and somewhat better sleep than I did the night before.  My mom had to go into work from 6 - 8 that morning for a meeting, then come home, and THEN go back to work at noon - what a pain in the tookus!  But at least we got to spend a little more time with her before we left for the day.  Once she went to work, we finished loading the car, locked up the house, said good-bye to Jasmine and Lucky (mom's dogsters), and headed back to Hubbard Park.

And We Sprang, All Right!!!

Tigs is getting on my case to write - I believe her words were something like, "Get in there and post something, or I'll gut you like a fish!!!"  I could be paraphrasing a little, but you know tigs...

Anyway, let me start by shouting out some very special "Thank You"s to some very special people.  First, Thank You to Mom, who put us up in her house so that we could attend Teeker's event, and for helping us get out there and box, and all the stuff in between!  Thank You to Teeks, who opened up her house to us, had some great stuff out and about, cooked up some great food, and did a fantastic job laying out the "road map" for us at Hubbard Park - that was truly awesome!  Thank You to the Tigster and her faithful sidekick Captain Umbrella, for spending the day with us, becoming closer friends, and making it one of the most memorable days EVER!  And Thank You everyone that came to the event, hit the trails, and from what I can tell, made the Teekster one happy camper about hosting this event!

Keeping up with. . .

i'm working on current. i'm trying for current. it's much much much more interesting to boing through the forest than it is to sit still and write about it to all y'all. Bubs, why o why did i let you talk me into this? "it will be fun" he said. "there will be two of us, so it won't be a burden" he said. "Besides, everyone knows how silly we get," he said. . . yeah, well. it was that last bit that got me.

The Traveling Tigger Boxer

So, when i head out on the trail, be it in airplane, car or hike mode, part of the problem is that i don't know how to stop, really. It's the tigger thing: i start with the boing, and the boinging continues basically until i drop. Time of day means nothing. Dark means nothing. Hunger is one of those things that Mr. Umbrella often has to remind me of - or, HE gets really REALLY grumpy which means i'd better feed him soon or he becomes The Shoes and letterboxing will cease!

Catching Up On Boxing Reports, Part 3 Of 3

I'm glad to see that I got my warning out in time, especially for those who could've been in danger this weekend down in NC, so let's get back to the fun and enjoyment of what we really like to do best, and that being letterboxing!  I'm sure tigs will appreciate the attention being shifted, if for nothing else, so that she can plan my demise.  So, back to boxing reports!

Public Safety Announcement

As many of you know, there can be many dangers, threats and scary things out on the trails that could potentially harm boxers.  Ticks can be rampant in some areas, and their creepy factor alone is enough to really get some boxers jittery.  Up here we don't really have dangerous snakes or spiders, but I'm sure that some of you southern boxers have to be careful about where you stick your hands or plant your boxes.  Then there are things like roots that trip you as you're hiking along, broken glass that some idiot threw near the box you are trying to find.  Richard Simmons stalking you through the woods as you are trying to be stealthy.  Attack mimes that jump down from trees when you least expect it.  Rabid boxes that have been unattended and left to revert to their wild untamed savageness.  You've been out there - you know what I'm talking about.

However, there is something out there far, far worse than any of these, and I am here to warn you about them today.  You need to know about these, familiarize yourself with them, memorize their every feature, so that if you ever encounter them, you will will know exactly what to do to prevent an attack, or survive one should you happen to be that unlucky.

Catching Up On Boxing Reports, Part 2 Of 3

Back to the blog.  As promised here is part two of our letterboxing so far for 2012.  But before I tell the tale, let me say two things - first, special thanks to Guzzy for hosting our first ltc tracker-swap-exchange thingy.  We're looking forward to seeing all those creative cards.  And again, I'd like to publically apologize to EnergyStar and all of those involved in his 2012 stamp swap.  I had to drop out last minute and really wish I could've stayed in.  *sigh*

Ok, on with the report.  And tigs!  No back-talk from you, or I'll release your shoes back into the wild where they can roam free and air out, and believe me, they'll thank me!

You made me ink!!

So there was so much posting back and forth about how Dew Drops were on sale at Joann's that of course i had to go check it out on Saturday. i don't have any Dew Drops because they're so dang expensive, and it sounded like a great way to start collecting a few. Alas, our Joann's had not heard of this nation-wide sale (which is not surprising, here in the wilds of Newmont, Canada) - although they were, indeed have a 30% off all inks and stamps sale. That, coupled with a 55% off coupon, meant that i picked up these little beauties for $3.16 and tax:

Things you learn when you're stir crazy. . .

So yesterday was "unseasonably warm" which for extreme Northern New England meant 38, and i've been cooped up in the house for WAAAY too long with recurrent "intractable" (isn't that an ugly word? believe me that right there is an ugly word!) migraine. So Mr. Umbrella decided that instead of traveling a lot and getting me exhausted again - which leads to more intractable migraine - we would go get a few boxes around here that have been waiting for the perfect time to be found. Yesterday was it.

Catching Up On Boxing Reports, Part 1 Of 3

Before Tigs yells at me again, and to stop my conscience from yelling at me constantly, its high time I report on our boxing experiences since I last wrote, which was at the end of 2011.  Since then, we've been to one event and have hit the trails twice.  So, I'll start with the event, and later post about our boxing bliss on the trails.  Grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and your coffee will still be hot by the time I'm done tonight...

well, we've been dead in the water. . .

and i take half the blame for it. . . but only half, i tell ya!! there's another blogger on here as well, and he's just not pulling his weight either! yeah!! i'd say we all just poke him with an inkblot and make him write!! that's what i say!

i hate Winter

but you all are going to love it! i am finally ready to get to some serious blogging. Which is about time, since i have so much to blog about. i have to tell you about the actual ELF event, and then the boxing in NC afterwards, where D of RDHG tried to kill me with her car. And then there's the Great Stamp Hunt of Christmas and the marvelous poem that Mr Umbrella encrypted for me to find my presents (that one comes with pictures). And then Boston - i got to go Squirrel Nutkin's house, where she served wassail and plum pudding and we stamped in glorious comfort during a slush storm.
