Before The End Of The Year...

I wanted to take a few minutes and give out some special "Thank You!!!"s to people out there that have made this year a much better year for us, thanks to this ultra-fantastic hobby we find ourselves now completely immersed in and love more and more each and every time we go hunt for boxes or attend an event.  Consider this my Credits post, only they won't scroll too fast like, at the end of a movie, and you can't fast-forward them.  ;)

TN ELFishness

i was in TN this first weekend of December - well, the tickets were actually to Charlotte, so i flew there first, then drove to TN. (Oh the things i will do for a letterbox!) They had honored me by asking me to carve the event stamp -first time i've ever been asked to do so - and my daughter had drawn original artwork for it. So, as a Christmas present, i got to hand deliver it. Also, since my other nickname in a different fellowship is "elf," Mr. Umbrella thought it was appropriate.

Long Beautiful Weekend Boxing, Parte Dos

Sorry this has taken a bit to get here, and I know tigs has something in the works, but here's the second part of our long weekend boxing adventure in December that we sure didn't think we'd be doing!  We headed to Andover on Monday, December 5th, the "Land of Lotsa Letterboxes".  We had only been there once before, searching for the Holy Grail.  We headed to Harold Parker State Forest, parked by gate 6, and started our adventure there.  Even with most of the leaves gone, we still found some beautiful views.

Long Beautiful Weekend Boxing, Parte Uno

C sometimes has Fridays off, due to their schedule at her work.  However, on rare occassion, it works out that she ends up with the Friday off one week, then the following Monday off the next.  This happened to be one of those weekends, and it couldn't have worked out better.  Weather was unbelievably fantastic - upper 40's through low 60's on the first week of December in NH?  Unusual to say the least!  No rain, no big plans - so duh!  That means boxing time!

The results

OK, so a brief update (for those that don't follow FB):
neither Bubs nor i were Responsible Adults completely. . . but he got WAY more boxes than me (63 vs. 15). Then again, HE didn't brave holiday shoppers at a local mall or Home Despot, ON a Saturday, BEFORE Christmas, AFTER letterboxing. So i win. . . rawr.

Finally a day off

It's been an incredibly busy week here in Lake Champ, my hometown. i've seen WAAY too many clients, in between carving stamps for ELF (t - 8 days and counting), trying to clean my house, having the dormers repaired (saws and hammering early in the morning) and find the Christmas decorations.

Turkey Day Weekend In Connecticut

This past Friday, Cheryl and I went down to Oxford, CT, to spend the weekend with family, and to get some boxes (of course).  We left Friday morning, and got into town around noonish.  As is our normal custom, C drove, and I spent the trip reading over clues and looking at the maps, trying to figure out the best plan of attack.  Not that my plans always work, especially since I have such high hopes for the amount of boxes we're going to find.

B'ware the teen in the woods

ok, so a little more about the boxing on Saturday:

there were two parks we went to, one in my old hometown in western MA, and one about 6 miles away, in CT. Both of these places are parks i used to . . . well, i was not a well-behaved teen. Oh, i went to church regularly and was a fine, upstanding member of the choir, but i was also known to the riffraff in town and the local police. My parents didn't know that, but then, this was a gentler time and place, and i'm female, so i talked my way out of a lot of trouble.

Hey it's me!!

i have finally figured out how to post to this blog!! yeah yeah yeah!! Mr. Bubs has been guiding me (the technically challenged LOL) through the process and now it has all come together and all y'all get to hear me blather on my own terms. So, watch out now!!

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a great Thanksgiving day, today - our oldest came over for dinner, we had plenty of food, and we sat around the table, which is a rare thing these days.

Welcome, One And All !!!

Tiggermama and I have been discussing putting together a blog for a little while now, and you are looking at the beginning stage of this collaborative mental jumble of letterboxing ideas, mishaps, lessons, silliness and whatever else pops in to our fuddle little minds.  We plan on discussing a whole range of topics regarding letterboxing, from deep to delirious, educational to entertaining, heart-warming and hilarious.  We'd love to have you jump in, and watch as things progress.  So just stop on by once in a while to see what's going on, and hopefully in one way or another, we can make you smile!  TTFN!
